Surrounded by mountains and with streams and brooks running through the city, Chengde has beautiful scenery and a pleasant climate in north China. The Mountain Resort (Imperial Summer Villa in Chengde) |
The Chengde Mountain Resort (Bi Shu Shan Zhuang) or literally Fleeing-the Heat Mountain Villa was the biggest garden of the imperial family in the Qing Dynasty. In 1994, the Mountain Resort and its surrounding temples were designated as a world Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. |
