Kucha (Kuqa), called Kuche in Chinese, is a county in eastern part of Aksu prefecture, Xinjiang. It ran along the northern edge of the Taklamakan Desert in the Tarim Basin and south of the Muzat River. Historically, Kucha was once a thriving city-state and center of Buddhism on the ancient Silk Road.
Still Kucha left abundant relics to mark its history. Besides, Qiuci music in Kucha County is second to none in the West Regions, as famous as the famous Kumtula Thousand Buddha Cave.
