  • 110, 120 and 119 are the most used emergency telephone numbers in China. They are all free calls.
  • 110 is the police contact number in China. Call 110 when you are in danger, meet a criminal crime, or in need of immediate help.
  • If you are unable to call the police, you can also notify the police by sending an SMS to 12110 + the last three numbers of your city’s digit area code. For example, if you are traveling in Shanghai, you would text 12110 021. If you are visiting Hangzhou, you would text 12110 571. Note that 12110 is an auxiliary, non-emergency way to notify the police for help, so the best way is to directly call 110 if you can.
  • 119 is the emergency telephone number for firefighters. Call 119 for reporting fire.
  • Call 120 when you need an emergency medical care and ambulance service. After calling 120, first-aid treatment is not encouraged unless you are trained.
  • 12395 is the national maritime SAR number in China mainland. Call for emergency help on the sea.
  • Call road police phone number 122 when traffic accident happens.
