Xiahe

Set in a beautiful mountain valley, Xiahe Town is home to Labrang Monastery, covering half of the town with quite a size. Built in 1709, it is the largest and most important center of Tibetan Buddhism outside of Tibet. Many Tibetans come here on pilgrimage dressed in their finest and colorful costumes. It also offers visitors the rare chance to spend some time hiking in the nearby grassland and mountains.
