Today, you will pay a visit to Forbidden City, which is the largest imperial palace in China for 24 emperors' reign during the Ming and Qing dynasties with a history of around 600 years. And also visit one of the best sections of Great Wall in Beijing - the Mutianyu section.

Day

AM: Pick up from hotel and drive to the Tiananmen Square, the largest city square in the world, here you can find some brilliant landmark buildings such as the Monument to the People's Heroes and the Great Hall of the People. Walk throught the Gate of Heavenly Peace (Tian'anmen Gate) to the Forbidden City. The Forbidden City, nominated as World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 1987, is the largest ancient palatial structure in the world and the best-preserved imperial palace in China.

End the visit of the Forbidden City at about 11:30, drive straight to the Mutianyu Great Wall. It will takes around 2 hours on the road, when your knowledgeable guide will share with you some historical facts and less-known titbits about the the Great Wall.

PM: Lunch will be arranged on your own. Arrive at the Mutianyu Great Wall, which is known for its beautiful surroundings - dense woods and rich pastures changing colors with the seasons of a year. You will have around 2.5 hours to walk on the wall and towers. Cable car is available to get to the wall and descend, which is optional and pay locally.

End the visit of the Great Wall at about 16:00, then takes about one and a half hour to drive back downtown Beijing. On the way, we will drive by the National Stadium, also known as the Bird's Nest, where you can take nice photos of its unique appearance.

Our last stop today is the Nanluoguxiang Hutong. This hutong area is a great place to spend some time leisurely to feel the charms of old alleyways in Beijing. If you are interested, you can explore it at your own pace and return to the hotel by yourself. Your tour guide will offer you directions for getting back to the hotel. If you prefer not to tour the Hutong area, your guide will take you back to the hotel after dropping the others off there.

• Free pick-up & drop-off from hotels within fourth ring road of the city. An additional transfer fee will be incurred if your hotel is outside the above mentioned area.

• Fee of Mutianyu cable car:RMB100 (single way);  RMB140 (return)

• Since the Forbidden City is usually not open on Mondays, we will arrange the morning visit to the Summer Palace instead of Tiananmen Square & the Forbidden City if your travel date happens to meet Monday.
