Arrival in Urumqi, the capital of the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region, and the "Shining Pearl On the Ancient Silk Road". Our bilingual tour guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. The rest of the day is free for your acclimation and exploring Urumqi on your own.

After a pleasant breakfast, we drive to visit Tianchi Lake (Heavenly Lake) and Mt Tianshan. 115 km northeast of Urumqi at an elevation of 1980m, this lovely deep-blue lake is surrounded by hills covered with fir trees and grazed by horses. Have a relaxing boating in Tianchi Lake to enjoy the breathtaking scenery. Nearby are the 5445m-high Bogda Peak and some other snow-covered ones on Tianshan Range. Next we visit the Museum of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. This museum is of Uygur and Russian styles, and collects over a thousand pieces of precious relics from four to five thousand years ago until modern times. Tonight, feast on roasted whole lamb dinner of Xinjiang flavor and enjoy the tribal song and dance performance.

Mt Tianshan

After breakfast, we drive to Turpan and visit a karez irrigation system. It was invented to cope with the desert environment by ancient Uygur people at the second half of 18th century, This irrigation system is regarded as one of greatest public projects in ancient China'. Then we visit the Flaming Mountain, well known among Chinese people due to the legendary story 'Journey to the West'. We then drive to Jiaohe Ancient City, an island-shaped plateau situated at Yar Town. It is the largest, oldest and well preserved earth-structured city in the world, with a history of 2000-2300 years. Embark the 'China Orient Express' Charter Luxury Train to Dunhuang at 20:30pm .

Have a tasty breakfast and then attend the train institute of Dunhuang introducing explained by experts and professors. Arrive in Dunhuang at 11:30am, and have lunch. After that, we visit world cultural heritage site Mogao Grottoes. The 492 cells and cave sanctuaries are famous for their statues and wall paintings, spanning 1,000 years of Buddhist art. After dinner, we continue to visit Dunhuang Night market -- Shazhou Night Market. It is one of the best night market in China and famous for its tasty snacks, local specialties, and crafts etc.

Mogao Grottoes

After breakfast, we proceed to Crescent Lake & Singing Sand Mountains. The Singing Sand Mountains is so called for the sound of the wind whipping off the dunes. An amazing short camel ride along the Singing Sand Mountains will lead you to the Crescent Lake. It is an oasis Gobi desert, surrounded by numerous sand dunes, reaching a relative height of 250 meters (820 feet). After lunch, we onboard the ' China Orient Express' Charter Luxury Train to Jiayuguan (Jiayu Pass). Arrival at Jiayuguan (Jiayu Pass) at 20:00pm.

Visit Jiayuguan (Jiayu Pass) in the morning. It is the western end of the Great Wall built in Ming Dynasty, and known as 'the First and Greatest Pass under Heaven, and best preserved and most magnificent military fort in China. Next, we proceed to Overhanging Great Wall, 7 miles away from Jiayu Pass. It got the named for riding on a mountain ridge that is 45 degrees from vertical and resembling a huge dragon. Take the ‘China Orient Express’ Train to Tianshui at 22:00pm.

Overhanging Great Wall

Arrival in Tianshui at 08:00am. Have a delightful visit of Maiji Mountain. It is 142 meters high, shaped like a pile of wheat, and considered as the " Oriental Statues museum”. Then we head for Xi’an by “China Orient Express’ at 21:00pm. The overnight train is quite comfortable and offer wonderful evening and morning views of the regional countryside.

Have breakfast in the hotel, then we drive to the famous Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses Museum, one of the eight wonders of the world. Be excited to observe China's first emperor - Emperor Qin's great army of 8000 life-sized terracotta soldiers and horses in three burial pits. Afterwards, we continue to Huaqing Hot Spring in Mt Lishan. In ancient time, emperors used to come here to bathe and enjoy the scenic beauty. It has become a favorite spa since the Tang Dynasty.

Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses Museum

Have breakfast in hotel,we visit to the Ancient City Wall of Xi'an, the most intact ancient Chinese wall in existence, that encircles and protects the old part of Xian City. Then proceed to visit Statue of Star Point of Silk Road and Big Wild Goose Pagoda Square, with one of the most famous Buddhist pagodas in China.After a drive of 120km west of Xian, we arrive at Famen Temple which was first set up during East Han Dynasty and is renowned for storing the veritable Finger Bone of the Sakyamuni Buddha.Thereafter we return to Xi’an,the marvelous Tang Dynasty Dinner Show at Tang Dynasty Palace will be prepared for you. The various savory dishes together with the exciting show will be sure to give satisfaction to your appetite, your eyes and your mind. Overnight at hotel.

When you board the train there will be a brochure in your cabin detailing more about your journey and the places en-route. Our Tour Manager will organize a programed of briefings on the cities or places we visit and, each evening, will issue a programed for the next day’s touring schedule.



All departures feature one or two uniquely designed restaurant cars where you can enjoy the excellent waiter-served food and wine. Several times during the tour we will also sample authentic local cuisine off the train.


A drinks allowance is included with lunch and dinner.
