Arrival in Beijing, our guide greets you at the airport and transfer to hotel.

Sit-in-coach tour today: go to the largest city square in the world, Tiananmen Square first. Then go to the Forbidden City, the largest imperial palace in China for 24 emperors' reign during the Ming and Qing dynasties with a history of around 600 years. Thirdly, visit the Temple OF Heaven, a masterpiece of architecture and landscape design where the ancient emperors used to pray for the God's bless of the whole nation.

China history tour to Forbidden City

Sit-in-coach tour to the Great Wall, a series of stone and earthen fortifications in China which is a symbol of China's history and heritage and regarded as one of the great wonders in the world. Later, go to the Ming Tomb, located at Chan Ping County, 50 km (31 miles) northwest of Beijing, it reflects a similar conception of Imperial architecture. Chang Tomb is the main site we visit to as it is the most magnificent of all 13 Ming Tombs.

China history tour with the Great Wall

Free at leisure in the morning. You can go to view more historical sites in Beijing, such as the Summer Palace, a masterpiece of Chinese garden architecture which was built by Empress Dowager Cixi in Qing Dynasty, and Yonghe Lhama Temple, the biggest Tibetan Buddhist temple in Beijing and the previous mansion of Emperor Yongzheng. Take a relaxing stroll in local Hutongs is also one of the best ways to taste local foods and learn local people’s lifestyle. At around 2pm, you will be picked up from hotel and transfer to the train station to board high speed train to Datong (2hrs), which lies in the northern Shanxi Province in China. Be met and transferred to hotel.

Visit the famous Yungang Grottoes, which are ancient Chinese Buddhist temple grottoes near the city of Datong in the province of Shanxi. They are excellent examples of rock-cut architecture and one of the three most famous ancient Buddhist sculptural sites of China. In the afternoon, you will visit Hanging Monastery, one of the few temples in China that blends all Buddhist, Taoist and confucianist cultures. It was established in the later period of the Nothern Wei Dynasty, which is over 1,500 years history. The halls and pavilions were constructed along the contours of the cliff face between 26 to 50 meters from bottom up by using the natural hollows and outcrops.

Historic China tour with Yungang Grottoes

This morning, you will visit Huayan Temple and Nine Dragon Screen before taking high speed train to Pingyao (2hrs). Upon arrival in Pingyao, you will be met and transferto Pingyao Ancient Town. Free at leisure for rest of the day to stroll the town.

In the morning, visit Double Forest Temple first. With 1500 year history, it is famous for more than 2000 painted Buddhist sculptures, regarded as "the treasure of Oriental painted sculptures". Visit Pingyao Ancient Town. It is one of the best preserved ancient towns in China listed as Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. The highlight spots there are: Ancient City Wall, the Rishengchang Draft Bank and the Mingqing Street. Later, take the bullet train to Xian (about 3 hours). Arrive at Xian. Be met & transferred to your hotel.

China history tour to Pingyao Ancient Town

Take sit-in-coach tour to Banpo Museum, which houses artifacts from the archaeological site of Banpo. Then drive to the famous Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses Museum. It’s often referred to as the eighth wonder of the world, which is an enormous collection of vivid Chinese warriors made out of hardened clay. Secondly, go to the first Chinese emperor - Qinshihuang’s Mausoleum. Later, drive to visit the Wild Goose Pagoda Of Ci’en Temple, first built in Tang Dynasty for the storage of Buddhist scriptures taken from India by Monk Xuanzang, and is now regarded as Xian’s emblem.

China history tour with Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses Museum

After breakfast, pay a visit to the Old City Wall of XIan, which was built in the 14th-century, as long as 13.74km. It surrounds the old part of XIan and connects with the vibrant modern city. Get down from the wall, and have a leisure stroll through Muslim Quarter that consists of the old city corners and the numerous food stalls and restaurants. Today you'll have a special lunch - being invited by a local family and learn dumpling making. Take an afternoon high speed train to Luoyang (1.5 hrs). Be met and transferred to hotel.

Visit Longmen Grottoes, a world heritage site named in 2000, the sculptures there are an outstanding manifestation of human artistic creativity that carved in late North Wei and Tang Dynasty (316-907). Then pay a visit to the White Horse Temple, first built in 68AD, it is believed to be the first Buddhist temple in China.

Historic China tour with Longmen Grottoes

Drive to visit Shaolin Temple in Dengfeng County. It is known in and outside of China for Shaolin martial arts. The temple was built in 495, the 19th year of the reign of Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty. Dagoba Forest and Chinese Kung Fu performances are also included in the following plan. Drive back to Luoyang to take high speed train to Nanjing.

One of the historic capitals in China, Nanjing boasts numreous cultural sites and ruins, and now becomes a new urban star. After breakfast, you will be transferred to visit the highlight attractions of Nanjing: the Mausoleum of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, Linggu Temple, old city wall, and Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum. Take a fast train to Shanghai (2hrs).

China high speed train

Full day Shanghai city tour today, starting from the Bund, Shanghai 's famous waterfront to see newly-erected modern skyscrapers and aged buildings of the colonial period. Later, take a walk at Nanjing Road and then visit Shanghai Museum at Renmin Square. The Museum is a large museum of ancient Chinese art. It boasts 120,000 pieces of rare and precious cultural relics in twenty-one categories, including bronze ware, ceramics, calligraphy, paintings, sculpture, furniture, jade and ivory carvings, bamboo and wood carvings, lacquer ware, oracle bones, seals, coins, and handicrafts of ethnic art. In the afternoon, you will visit Yu Garden, which used to be a private garden with 400 years' history and features the traditional architectural style of Yangtze Delta. End the tour at French Concession (Xintiandi), a pedestrian street composed of traditional street format of Shanghai Shikumen and modern development.
