The Forbidden City
Walk to the Forbidden City on the other side of the Chang'An Avenue. With 600 years history, this imperial palace was home to 24 ancient emperors in Ming and Qing dynasties. Different imperial collections will help you learn history and culture of China.
Out of the Forbidden City, you will have lunch in local restaurant nearby. Later visit Beihai Park, former imperial garden. The park contains numerous historically important structures, palaces, and temples. Like many other Chinese imperial gardens, Beihai was designed to imitate renowned scenic spots and architecture from various regions of China, particularly those in south China. The White Dagoba is a Tibetan-style stupa placed on the highest point on Jade Flower Island, built to honor the visit of the 5th Dalai Lama in 1651.
Food tour in local Hutongs
Hutong is a must for a classic Beijing tour, which allows you an in-depth travel of the city. On this tour, your guide will walk you to a Nanluoguxiang Hutong. Have a glimpse of the authentic local life in these narrow lanes lined with the traditional courtyards. And you will have chance to taste different local foods and snacks.

Meet your guide at the lobby of your hotel at around 8am in the morning, and walk or take subway to an authentic Beijing breakfast. Join the local Beijingers and feast on the douzhir (fermented soya-bean milk), deep-fried dough sticks, steamed bun, wonton, etc. (we suggest you have some breakfast in your hotel in case that you don’t like the local breakfast). Start your day with the real flavor of Beijing.
Morning vegetable market
Afterwards, walk with your guide to a nearby morning market (5 minutes walking), where there are all kinds of fresh vegetables and fruits for sell. Locals, especially the elder generations come here in the early morning for their daily meals. They greet each other and have casual chatting. It is fun to see the customers bargain with the vendors. Try some fruit if you like.
Old-fashion Department Store
Only five minutes’ walk away from the morning market is an old-fashion department store. It is an exception among Beijing’s numerous modern shopping centers, by keeping its “old look” from 1960s and selling various time-honored brands of daily necessities, including silk, cosmetics, clothes, all with good quality and reasonable price. You can buy yourself and friends some souvenirs here.
Temple of Heaven
Then walk about 20 minutes for the visit of Temple of Heaven. It was a place for ancient emperors to worship heaven, and a masterpiece of architecture and landscape design. In the morning, local people gather here for fun - they fly kites, practice Tai Chi, sing songs, play cards and chess…
Your guide will arrange you a local restaurant for today’s lunch, and help you order dishes.
Beijing Hutong
A visit of hutong is a must for a classic Beijing tour, which allows you an in-depth travel of the city. On this tour, your guide will walk you to a less-known, pristine Hutong. Have a glimpse of the authentic local life in these narrow lanes lined with the traditional courtyards.
