ETC especially designs this 4-day trip to unveil the traditions, people and cultral essence of Hong Kong. You will travel with our local guide who offers insider behind-the-scene access to the back streets & lanes, markets, restaurants, food stalls and hidden villages. Apart from visiting the famous attractions from Ngong Ping 360 cable car, Po Lin Monastery to Tiantan Buddha Statue, also enjoy yourself the local experience of Hong Kong, by using public transportations including tramways, Ferry, MTR, tasting various yummy street foods, walking among dense population, discovering the Soho area, century-old pharmacy, tea house and the oldest mosque in HK unknown to the outsiders.

Day

Upon arrival, be met by ETC guide and transfer to hotel to check in. In the afternoon, transfer away from the busy city to New Territories to see the ancient trail of Yuen Long Ping Shan Heritage Trail. Stretching about 1.6 kilometers in length, the Trail links up a number of traditional Chinese buildings with easy walking distance of each other. You will have a opportunity to learn about traditional life in the New Territories and admire the architecture of Tang Clan people. The highlights to see Today are Tsui Sing Lau Pagoda, Tang Clan Ancestral Hall, Kungting Study Hall, Sheung Cheung Wai, Tai Fu Tai Mansion. Sheung Cheung Wai is one of the most representative architecture in China. It is a small walled village that was first built 200 years ago by members of Tang Clan. It's interesting to walk in through the recently rebuilt archway and wander along the narrow streets between tightly packed houses. The villages like this were built to protect people from inter-village feuds and from bandits who once roamed the area.

Later transfer back to Kowloon, have a stroll at old city area and visit the Flowers and Birds Market. These two markets are very worth to stroll even if you won’t buy flowers and birds. Afterwards, we will transfer to Shau Kei Wan wet market which is the second biggest wet market in Hongkong Island. Then taste the famous Roast Goose/ Barbecue Pork noodles. Transfer back to hotel to have good rest.

In the morning, your guide will greet you at hotel and escort you to take public transportation to Central area , experiencing the old and unique transportation - Hong Kong Tramways. It is one of the earliest forms of public transport in the metropolis. Taking the TRAM for a few stop to dry seafood market in Sheung Wan, you will be impressived by tones of dry abalone and shark fin which are the traditional deluxe material for chinese banquet. The Mid-level escalator, old pharmacy and traditional herbal tea shops are in your eyes. Later our local guide will take you to the oldest Mosque in Hong Kong that is normally not open to tourist.

Afternoon tour option1: After a short visit, take Star Ferry to Kowloon, walk along Nathan Road which is the oldest and most important road in kowloon, we also call it "Golden Mile". There are huge number of shops and stalls along the street with neon lights and signs all over the place. Later we take Taxi to Yau Ma Tei and Mongkok, enjoy some street food (e.g. egg tart, fish ball, Deep fried chicken, etc.) and have a stroll at ladies market. At last we will go to visit the very old Tin Hau Temple. It is the largest and oldest Tin Hau Temple in Hong Kong, most of local residents especially fishermen come here to pay their homage to the goddess for whom the temple was dedicated. Ending the tour and we take public transportation back to Hotel (transportation and visiting sequence are flexible up to the situation on spot and the location of the hotel.)

Afternoon tour option 2: Lunch with Won Ton Noodles / Hongkong local noodles at local restaurant. Taking MTR to Quarry Bay to visit the Fok Cheung Building which is the shooting place of transformer 3 and an place of the densely population in Hongkong. And then take MTR to Chi Lin Monastery (Bonsai Garden), it's a large Buddhist temple complex located in Diamond Hill in Kowloon. After spending more than a multimillion dollar for its renovation, the Monastery was reopened in 2000. Covering a space of more than 33,000 Square meters, the temple complex includes a nunnery, temple halls, Chinese gardens, hotels and a vegetarian restaurant. Afterwards we walk to visit Kowloon Wall City Park. The whole city is circled with a firm stone Wall, six obervatories and four city gates. Most of paths and pavilions in the park are named after the streets and buildings of the old Kowloon Walled City. And today in the Hongkong Walled City Park, you can see some past artifacts, for example, inscribed stones, ancient wells, cannons, abandoned ancient south gate, etc. Know more about the History of Kowloon and then take Taxi back to hotel. (Transportation and visiting sequence are flexible up to the situation on spot and the location of the hotel.)

Hong Kong street food tasting

After breakfast, be met at hotel lobby and transfer about 1 hour to Tung Chug of Lantau Island - the largest outlying island of Hong Kong. Upon arrival, you will experience the wonderful Ngong Ping 360 cable car, which is sure to refresh your body and enlighten your mind once you step on the cable car. Ngong Ping Cable car is a visually spectacular 5.7 kilometers cable car journey, travelling between Tung Chung Town Centre and Ngong Ping on Lantau Island. Surround by Windows on 4 sides, Ngong Ping Cable Car truly offers stunning "360 degree".

Arriving at Ngong Ping Village, let go to visit the largest Buddhist temple of Hong Kong - Po Lin Monastery. On the hill is the largest outdoor bronze Buddha statue in the world - Tiantan Buddha Statue. Completed in 1993, it is 34 meters high including the pedestal. It took more than 10 years to cast the statue at a factory in Nanjing. The view of surrounding countryside from the base of the statue are charming. There are some small exhibition galleries inside the statue for visit. Today, you will enjoy vegetarian lunch at Po Lin Monastery. Get down the village and transfer back to your hotel.
