Wuwei in the central part of Gansu province is reputed as "a bright pearl" of the ancient Silk Road. The historical city stands on the strategic eastern end of the Hexi Corridor. Temples, tombs and traditonal gates hint at its glorious past. Likewise today, its central location between three western capitals, Lanzhou, Xining, and Yinchuan makes it an important business and transportation hub for the area.
The most famous attractions in and around Wuwei include Leitai Temple, Confucius Temple, and Haizang Temple.
