Henan, or at least the northern tip of it, which is intersected by the Yellow River, is allegedly where it all began. The beginnings of the Chinese civilization can be traced back here, about 3500 years ago, when primitive settlements began to coalesce into a true urban sprawl.
Today, Henan is one of China’s smallest provinces, and also one of the most densely populated, with over 100 million people. For the traveler, Henan’s tourist attractions are numerous. It has 4 cities once served as the capital of China in ancient times, the province has many historical sites, such as Longmen Grottos, White Horse Temple, Yuntai Mountain, Zhongyue Taoist Temple, Kaifeng Iron Pagoda, Yin Ruins and so forth. The province is also known as home of Chinese Kung Fu, Shaolin Temple and Chenjiagou Village are the Mecca of Kung fu fans.
