Mutianyu Great Wall - first built in the 6th century AD to ward off the northern nomads, it was consolidated in the 14th century. As an important strategic pass, it was frequently renovated. Now it is the one of the best preserved sections of the Great Wall.

Ming Tomb (Changling) - Changling is the tomb for Emperor Yongle, the third Ming emperor, and his wife Empress Xu. He ruled for 22 years and made some achievements in political, military, economic, cultural and diplomatic fields.

The Summer Palace - The largest and best-preserved royal garden in China with a history of over 800 years. 

Prince Gong's Mansion - It is one of the largest private residence compounds in Beijing, with a nine-courtyard layout and gardens, high walls and elaborate gardens.

After breakfast, visit Yungang Grottoes (Yungang Buddhist Caves), The Hanging Temple.

Yungang Grottoes (Yungang Buddhist Caves) - Located 16 kilometers west of Datong city, the Yungang Grottoes are hewn out of cliff-sides in a honeycomb pattern, stretching for 1,000 meters (1 km) from east to west.

The Grottoes were built more than 1,500 years ago in the Northern Wei Dynasty.

The Hanging Temple - A temple built into a cliff (75 m or 246 ft above the ground) near Mount Heng in the province of Shanxi. The closest city is Datong, 65 kilometers to the northwest.

Yungang Grottoes

Transfer to the Railway Station and take train to Pingyao (7.5 hours, at soft sleeper class). Upon arrival, be met at the rail station and transfer to hotel, overnight at Pingyao Ancient Town.

Pingyao Ancient Town - During the Qing Dynasty, Pingyao was a financial center of China. It is now renowned for its well-preserved ancient city wall, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Excursions to Ming and Qing Street, Rishengchang Draft Bank (Sunrise Prosperity Draft Bank), The Wang Family Courtyard House.

Ming and Qing Street - also called South Street or Nan Da Jie, it was the main commercial street in Pingyao.

Rishengchang Draft Bank (Sunrise Prosperity Draft Bank) - the first draft bank in China, dealing in bank drafts rather than in silver or gold money. It was the cornerstone of modern Chinese banking.

The Wang Family Courtyard House - Located in Jingsheng Town, Lingshi County, 35 kilometers (about 22 miles) from Pingyao, it is an excellent example of Chinese residential architecture style and has been turned into a museum.

Visit Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum, Bell Tower and Drum Tower.

Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum - One of the most important archaeological finds in the 20 th century; an army of terra-cotta warriors and the bronze chariots entombed in vast underground vaults at emperor Qin's tomb since 2200 year ago.

Bell Tower - first built in 1384, the largest and best preserved of its kind.

Drum Tower - The Drum Tower (Gu Lou) is a smaller building which stands to the west of the Bell Tower and marks the Moslem quarter of Xian.

Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum

Visit Ancient City Wall, Big Wild Goose Pagoda Park, Grand Mosque and Muslim Quarters.

Ancient City Wall - The best-kept and biggest city walls in China.

Big Wild Goose Pagoda Park - the city emblem, which was first built in Tang Dynasty for the storage of Buddhist scriptures taken from India by Monk Xuanzang.

Grand Mosque - The Great Mosque is built in a Chinese architectural style and most of the grounds are taken up with gardens, except for some Arabic lettering and decorations, the mosque has neither domes nor traditional-style minarets. It's still an active place of worship and several prayer services are held each day.

Visit the famous The Potala Palace, and Sera Monastery.

The Potala Palace - a monumental building of Lhasa served as administrative center, seat of government, monastery, fortress and the home of all the Dalai Lamas from the Fifth to the Fourteenth in the past, a UNESCO world cultural heritage site of 1994.

Sera Monastery - one of three famous monasteries in Lhasa along with the Drepung Monastery and the Ganden Monastery. The Sera Monastery is dedicated to the Gelugpa or Yellow Hat Sect. It was first built in 1419 during Ming Dynasty. The debating among monks is a very interesting scene of this monastery.

Potala Palace

Transfer to visit Yamdrok Lake, The Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Street.

Yamdrok Lake - one of the four largest sacred lakes in Tibet. The lake is surrounded by many snow-capped mountains and is fed by numerous small streams. The lake does have an outlet stream at its far western end. Around 90 km to the west of the lake lies the Tibetan town of Gyantse and Lhasa is 100 km to the northwest. According to local mythology, Yamdok Yumtso lake is the transformation of a goddess.

The Jokhang Temple - 1300+ years old with a golden roof and the most sacred and important temple for most Tibetans..

Barkhor Street - an area of narrow streets located around Jokhang Temple in Lhasa, it is the most popular devotional circumabulation for pilgrims and locals.

Further explore Lhasa city: Drepung Monastery, Norbulingka. then drive to the airport and fly to Chengdu.

Drepung Monastery - first built in 1416, it was once the biggest monasteries in Tibet.

Norbulingka - it used to be the Summer Palace of the Dalai Lama. Among artificial gardens, Norbulingka is the biggest, the best scenic and the most historic one in Tibet. Nowadays, it is the public park for local people.

Drepung Monastery

Drive to visit Giant Panda Breeding Research Base, Jinsha Site Museum, Jinli Ancient Street.

Giant Panda Breeding Research Base - Situated on the Axe Hill 10 kilometers north of Chengdu, 40 plus pandas as well as other endangered species like lesser pandas and black-necked crane currently reside at the base in quarters. It was awarded "Global 500" twice by the UN in the year of 1989 and 1994.

Jinsha Site Museum - a very impressive museum built at Jinsha Ruins, featuring various tools and art pieces from around 3,000 years ago .

Jinli Ancient Street - An old street with 350 meters on the east of Temple of Wuhou with mansions, halls, dwellings, inns, and shops. The old street with green stone-paved paths retains the ancient style. Here, you can enjoy local Sichuan cuisine, tea, wine, opera and ancient culture.

After finishing your hike trip, transfer to Shibaoshan Scenic Area, overnight at Shaxi ancient town (Sideng Street).

Shibaoshan Scenic Area - is located in Jiangchuan County in the northwest section of the Dali-Bai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan province. Shibaoshan (Shanbao Mountain) is the center part of the ‘Three Paralled Rivers', a UNESCO World Nature Heritage Site. The Danxia landscape is the most picturesque view of all. The Shizhongshan Grottoes is another highlights, which were created by the ancient Bai People in the historical period of the Tang and Song dynasties (850 A.D -1179A.D.). The figures carved in the grottoes, are the kings of the historical Nanzhao period of Yunnan, Buddhas, Boddhisattras, Guardian Kings, and even statues of foreign monks.

Shaxi ancient town (Sideng Street) - A well kept Bai Minority village.Situated midway between Dali and Lijiang, Shaxi was one of the important trading centers on the Tea-Horse Caravan Road since several hundred years.

Huangshan Mt. - Huangshan, known as 'the loveliest mountain of China', was acclaimed through art and literature during a good part of Chinese history (e.g. the Shanshui 'mountain and water' style of the mid-16th century). Today it holds the same fascination for visitors, poets, painters and photographers who come on pilgrimage to the site, which is renowned for its magnificent scenery made up of many granite peaks and rocks emerging out of a sea of clouds. It was enlisted as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1990.
