To answer some of your queries:
The cars and drivers were excellent, as were the hotels and we particularly liked your suggestion in Shanghai, the Langham Yangtze Boutique which was very well situated. Our guides in Xian, Guilin (I would be grateful if you would give us Steven's email as we forgot to leave him our address here in Washington if he should ever come here) and Shanghai were all excellent too (incidentally we tipped all the guides and the drivers as suggested by you).
Sabrina in Beijing was very nice and willing, but her English was limited as was her knowledge.
