It takes about 3 hours for us to drive from Chengdu to Wolong Panda Research Center today. En route, stop for a visit of 2008 Earthquake Memorial Site. During the catastrophic earthquake in 2008, countless lives were lost, while the original site of Wolong Panda Base was largely ruined too. A new panda base at Shenshuping had been built and finally completed in 2016. The most distinctive part of this panda base is the Panda Kindergartens, where you will see 1-2-year old pandas living and playing there.

After checking hotel near the Wolong Shenshuping Panda Base, we will firstly take a hike in Dengsheng Valley to explore the primitive habitat of giant pandas and savor the serene nature. The hiking trail of Dengsheng Valley is around 5km, along the original natural scenery. The Giant Panda Wilding Training Area and Releasing to Wildness Area of the Wolong Panda Base are close to Dengsheng Valley, so if you are lucky enough, you may encounter wild giant panda in this region.
