Meet your guide at hotel lobby at around 8.30am and starting today's sightseeing from Tiananmen Square, the largest city square in the world. With the 37.94-meter high Monument to the People's Heroes standing at the center, the Great Hall of the People to the west, the National Museum of China to the east, and the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong at the south, Tiananmen Square is named after the Tiananmen ("Gate of Heavenly Peace") located to its north, which separates it from the Forbidden City. Later, walk through under ground tunnel under Chang'an Avenue and Tiananmen to the former imperial palace, the Forbidden City. This large palace building was built between 1406 and 1420, and it served as the home of 24 emperors in Ming & Qing dynasties and their households, as well as the ceremonial and political center of Chinese government.It was nominated as World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 1987, is the largest ancient palatial structure in the world and the best-preserved imperial palace in China.It takes around 2-3 hours to explore the palace.
In the afternoon, you will visit Temple of Heaven, another World Heritage site in Beijing. The Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests,the Echo Wall and the Circular Mound Altara a are three main buildings of Temple of Heaven, which are masterpiece of architecture in the world. In ancient time, it was the place where emperors used to pray for the God's bless of the whole nation. Today, there are many public activities and performances are held in the park.
