Grace Vineyard
Grace Vineyard is located in Taigu Country, 40km south of Shanxi province capital, Taiyuan, and one of a handful of thriving wineries in North China.
Along with his close friend, famous Bordeaux oenologist Denis Boubals, Mr.CK Chan from Hong Kong established Grace Vineyard in 1997. The site selection was seriously analyzed and the present base was determined due to its superior growing conditions for viticulture: ample sunshine, low humanity and rainfall, large temperature difference between day and night, and good sandy silt mixed with a bit of clay.
After roughly 17 years, the family-owned Grace Vineyard (now under the leadership of Judy Leissner) has been widely recognized in this industry by producing premium - quality wines of Bordeaux style, and highly regarded by famous wine critic and certified master of wine, Jancis Robinson, James Halliday and important international media, Wine Spectator.
The 60 hectares estate produces 1.5 – 2.5 million bottles of wine per year, and mainly grows Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Grace Vineyard has received a series of awards at important events including their 2004 Chairman’s Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon being awarded an Honorable Mention at the 2007 Decanter World Wine Awards. It was also the only China wine for Cathay Pacific’s first and business class passengers.
In recent years, the trendy concept of ‘wine tourism’ from Europe has hit Grace Vineyard. Travelers are welcomed to have a wine tasting trip to the Chateau and going to be entertained as a family friend. A visit to Grace Vineyard is that being free to explore around by bike or on foot, watching a short instructional video on the history of the chateau, discovering the underground cellar, enjoying the modern luxury décor at the guesthouse, and of course, tasting the fine wine combined with homemade local meals.
