Hiking Yala Mountain

This trekking tour highlights in 3 days hiking and camping around Yala Snow Mountain, one of the four great Tibetan holy mountains. Day

You will be met at train station or airport, or picked up from hotel and drive 5.5 hours to the starting point of this hiking trip. This area is in Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, and this village is the first residential place out of the mountain. The altitude is at 3250m above sea level. Overnight in a cozy Tibetan charactor guesthouse.

Tips: Hot spring is famous in this area, which is great to relax yourself before 3 days hiking (on your own expenses).

Main luggage, camping and cooking sets carried by horse, we will leave Zhonggu Village for the Yala Valley. Today's hiking is around 13km and mostly uphill. Walk around 6 hours through jungles and cross streams, you will arrived at an open place in the valley, the first camping site.

Enjoy simple but nutritious breakfast in the nature, and then continue the hike into the valley. As you hike through the forest and get to higher place, you can viewing more panoramic landscapes, such as the Penholder Mt. at 6000 meters. The highest point of the hike is the Yala Cross at 4216 meters, then you will descend to Yala Youcuo Lake at 3980 meters. En route, you will pass the Two Sisters Lake at 4200 meters. Today's hike is around 16km with an altitude ascending of 700m. It's a challenge, but you will be rewarded with amazing sceneries.

After breakfast at the bank of the fairy lake, you will descend the sacred mountain. Hike around 3km to get to the entrance of Taizhan Valley, where you will take sightseeing bus to the exit of the Scenic Area. Meet your driver and head to Xinduqiao via Tagong.

Today, you will take a hike to the top of a mountain near Xinduqiao and view another sacred mountain, Mount Gongga (also know as Minya Konka). With an elevation of 7,556 m (24,790 ft) above sea level, it is also known to locals as "The King of Sichuan Mountains". After lunch, drive back to Chengdu for flight or train to your next destination.
