Day
Be met at the airport and transferred to check in hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. 

Excursion to the Tiananmen Square first--it covers an area of 100 acres and can host at least 1 million people, which makes it the largest public square in the world. Then go to the Forbidden City, located in the center of Beijing Municipality, was once the home of the 24 emperors and their households of the Ming and Qing dynasties, and the ritual and political center of the Chinese government. In the afternoon, you will go to visit the Summer Palace. It is a fine example of China's royal gardens, which used various traditional ways to integrate the design elements of south and north China. In Qing Dynasty, the garden is imperial rulers’ favorite summer residence. UNESCO inscribed Summer Palace a World Cultural Heritage Site in 1998. Take a picture stop at Olympic Green, in which the “Water Cubic” and “Bird Nest” are served as the main venue of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Forbidden City

This morning, go to visit Temple of Heaven, an imperial complex of religious buildings situated in the southeastern part of central Beijing. The complex was visited by the Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties for annual ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for good harvest. After the visit, have a free shopping at Panjiayuan market , Beijing's biggest and best-known arts, crafts and antiques market. Later in the afternoon, take a walk in Hutongs by Houhai Lake to learn the traditional Chinese cultures from the courtyard buildings. The guide will have many stories for you, which are related to people lived in Hutongs. You can also take a coffee break at the bar by the lake.

Hutongs

Drive 2.5hrs east to visit the Eastern Qing Tombs, the largest, most complete, and best preserved extant mausoleum complex in China. The Yuling mausoleum of Emperor Qian Long and Dingling mausoleum of Emperor Dowager Ci Xi are the most magnificent. The spirit path was paved with three layers of large bricks and decorated with stone creatures. Starting from the stone ornamental column (or watching pillar), eighteen pairs of stone animals and human figures were arranged at fixed intervals. After the visit, continue your trip to Chengde--250km northeast of Beijing, got its fame as "summer capital" when Qing emperors constructed imperial palace and spent their summers there.

Chengde

A guided tour will show you the Mountain Resort's architectural highlights, The Villa was the biggest garden of the imperial family in the Qing Dynasty. In 1994, the Mountain Resort and its surrounding temples were designated as a world Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. Lead / Go to the famous Putuo Zongcheng Temple, known as the Lesser Potala Palace, it was built from 1767 to 1771and located north of the Mountain Resort. Then go to Puning Temple (Temple of Universal Peace), houses the world's tallest wooden sculpture of the Bodhisattva Avalokitevara (22.28-meter-high and 110-ton), hence its nicknamed is the "Big Buddha Temple".

Putuo Zongcheng Temple

Early departure at 8am today, you will transfer to Jinshanling Great Wall. It is an exemplary section of the Great Wall and hence comes the saying that Jinshanling section is the most quintessential of the Great Wall. You will have chance to walk the wild section of the wall. Transfer to Beijing railway station in time for your train to Datong, an ancient city with a history of more than 2400 years. Upon arrival, be met and transferred to hotel for check in.

Transfer to Pingyao via Taiyuan by private car this morning. The driving is about 5hrs on high way. En route you will visit Jinci Temple, which is believed to be built before the Northern Wei Dynasty (386 AD-534 AD). It is more like a large ancient garden featuring historical cultural relics and beautiful landscape. Free at leisure for rest of time to explore Pingyao ancient town.

Jinci Temple

Full day exploration of the Ancient Town of Pingyao (UNESCO), a well-preserved ancient Chinese city of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. You will admire the Ancient City Wall built with bricks and stones. Then approach to Rishengchang Bank - the first bank of China, and get impressed by the Old Government Buildings.

Ancient Town of Pingyao

Visit the Wang Family Courtyard House, located in Jingsheng Town, Lingshi County, 35 kilometers (about 22 miles) from Pingyao, it is an excellent example of Chinese residential architecture style and has been turned into a museum. In the afternoon, you will have time to experience more of the ancient town.

Transfer to Pingyao Railway Station for the D train to Xian (about 3 hours). After a refresh in hotel, take a city sightseeing in Xian. You will visit the Ancient City Wall and Big Wild Goose Pagoda. The Ancient City Wall is the best-kept and biggest city walls in China--13,912 meters in circumference, 12 meters in height, and the foundation is 18 meters in width and the top of the wall is 15 meters wide. You can take a biking tour on the wall (optional and pay locally). Later, Go to Big Wild Goose Pagoda, situates inside Ci'en Temple (4 kilometers south of Xi'an City), it is one of the famous Buddhist pagodas in China. Tang Dynasty Singing & Dancing Show is highly recommended for evening activity (optional and pay locally).

Ancient City Wall

Transfer to visit the famous Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses Museum, which is one of the highlight attractions in China. It is significant because of the hundreds of detailed life-size clay warriors and horses of more than 2200 years old. Then drive back to Xian, visit the Grand Mosque, which is one of the oldest, largest and best-preserved Islamic mosques in China. You can learn its centuries-old history and particular design of mixed architecture - traditional Muslim and Chinese styles. Afterward, you can walk to the Old City Quarters to experience the real life of local people and appreciate their architecture styles.

Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses Museum

Pick up at the hotel and transfer to airport for morning flight to Guilin-- home to the most eye-popped natural landscape under the heaven, offering comfortable climate, crystal rivers, spectacular caves, typical karst formations and ever green vegetation. This afternoon, you will visit Reed Flute Cave, known as "Natural Art Gallery", it is famous for its fantastic stalactites and stalagmites formation. Afterwards, go to Guilin Tea Institute to Chinese tea culture trip. You can take a walk in the tea farm, learn how to pick tea leaves and see how green leaves are processed in traditional way to tea. A tea ceremony demonstration will let you know how different that Chinese people drink tea and think of tea.

Reed Flute Cave

Today, take a day tour to Longji rice terrace, which has been listed in the protection of Globally Important Agriculture Heritage Systems (GIAHS) . It is about 90 kilometers from Guilin city and received their name “Dragon Backbone” for the terraces look like a dragon’s scales, while the summit of the mountain range resembles the backbone of the dragon. You will be picked up from hotel after breakfast and drive 2hrs to Longji Scenic area and walk 30min to Ping’an village on top of the mountain. Walk No. 1 and No. 2 sightseeing points to view the rice terraces and take some walk in the village to learn Zhuang minority people’s lifestyle. Transfer back to hotel in the afternoon.

Take a leisurely Li River cruise, disembark at the beautiful small town famous for its Karst landscape--Yangshuo. At Yangshuo, you can have a free afternoon for your own exploration. The ideal way is wander around and go to tourist spots like Moon Hill, Big Banyan and so on. At night, the West Street is a must-go where shows lively nightlife with both Chinese and western style. Besides, you can also go to watch the optional evening show 'Impression Sanjie Liu' on the natural stage along Li River (optional and pay locally).

Li River cruise

A one hour Taichi class before breakfast to experience Chinese Kong Fu. Afterward, you will take an escorted biking tour to the countryside near Yangshuo. You will see the most beautiful landscape in Guilin and see the local farmer’s life. Climb the Moon Hill for a bird view othe Karst landscapes. Afternoon is free at leisure and Bamboo Rafting down Yulong River is highly recommended.

Pick up at the hotel, transfer to Guilin Airport and fly to Hong Kong, connecting your flight return home.
