Day

Pick up from your hotel after breakfast and drive towards Shangnei, a small village belongs to Yangshuo County. Between the village and Li River, there is a mountain. You will follow an ancient path to walk to Li River. The scenery broadens at the top after a climbing up for 50 meters, and you will see Li River beneath and picturesque mountains on its both sides. Lunch will be arranged at a local family restaurant. In the past, the only way for the villagers to go out was either taking the path you just walk or by ferry across Li River. The rest of the walk is much easier and relaxing. Follow the path along the river, and walk about 10km to Xingping with a ferry on halfway. Overnight in Xingping. It returns to be a quiet small town after tourists leave.

Li River Hiking

This morning, we will do a nearly two hours hiking to a fishing village which was visited by Bill Clinton in 1998. Walking along the small path that near the Laozhai Moutain to the river bank. Continue hike about 1 hour and you will arrive at the fishing village. Lying on the east bank of the Li River, the fishing village has a history of more than 500 years. The well-preserved traditional residences make the visit a remarkable one. After the visit of fishing village, return Xingping Town by a short ferry ride. Take a leisure stroll on the stone-paved lanes through Xingping Old Town to experience local culture and life, before driving to Yangshuo.

Today we will hike deep into the countryside of Yangshuo, experiencing some of the best hiking trails in Yangshuo, as you walk along the Yulong River. Enjoy yourself the every moment to close up to nature consist of amazing limestone Karst formation, rural farmlands, fruits gardens and tranquil old villages. The hiking tour will end at Jiuxian village, a charming serene village hidden in green mountains and near Yulong River. It is well-known for its old grey brick buildings and historical relics that can be found throughout Jiuxian Village. It will be great to take a rest, have a cup of coffee and wonder around the village after the hike.

After that, we move on to visit Moon Hill. There is moon-shaped hole penetrating the hill hence the name Moon hill. Seeing from different angles of the Moon Hill, the shape of the hole is constantly changing and just like the moon shape in different time. Climb 800 steps up to the big hole. The view from the top is magnificent and there’s chance you may see the sunsets over Yangshuo’s spectacular countryside. It is definitely worthy of the trip.

Free at leisure today before transferring to airport or train station for your next destination. We have some other off-the-beaten-track walks among the unique Karst hills, which you can consider to add on if time permits.

  Add-on R-01: Hiking in Jungle with Picnic Lunch at Scenic Mountaintop  

Starting from a small village 5min driving from the West Street, you will immediately walk into a quiet orchard at the foot of a karst hill. An ancient flag-stone path will lead you to the other side of the hill. Yes, you may need to cross some jungles, which is just a warming up as you will encounter more challenge in the second half of the hiking. Walk along the edge of a small reservoir, you will start to climb up 100m in altitude though jungles and bushes. In some places, our guide will help to cut out a path to continue. As the water level is high in rain season, we have to take a detour. All the efforts will be rewarded when you get to the top flat, where you can view the lovely view by Yulong River. Have a picnic lunch before easy descending to meet your car and transfer back to hotel.

  Add-on R-02: Walking to Cuiping Hill for Wow View  

As one of the top jaw-dropping mountaintop views in Guilin and Yangshuo area, Cuiping Hill (Wu Zhi Hill, Five Finger Hill) is the place we will walk to. Dropped off at Fuli Bridge, a stone arch bridge built in Ming Dynasty and famous for photographers, you will walk northward along the Wugui River for 10km. Passing rice fields, vegetable fields, orchards and villages and get to Putao, where the Cuiping Hill is located. From the top, you will see the incredible panoramas of the fields among Karst hills and with hills dot in it and river winds across it. Sunset view is the best if possible. Descend to meet your car and transfer back to hotel.
