Upon arrival at Lhasa Gonggar Airport or train station, your family will be met and welcomed by your Easy Tour China local guide and transfer to your hotel check in. You will have a nice view of Yarlung Tsangpo River en route, which is the largest and longest river in Tibet. After check-in at hotel, have a good rest for acclimating the high altitude and the weather of Lhasa.

Wake up in fresh and bit thin air, visiting word’s highest altitude palace and castle-Potala Palace to start your family tour. Admire the mighty White Palace and Red Palace, and listen to the stories how Potala Palace was built by Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo to marry Princess Wencheng, who came call the way to Tibet from the Tang Dynasty due to the “political marriage”.

After lunch, we will move on to visit the Jokhang Temple, which is 1300 years old and one of Tibet’s holiest shrines. Here you’ll meet the a life-like Shakyamuni statue aged 12 and may feel deeply moved when seeing devoted pilgrims on all fours praying in front of Jokhang Temple. Outside Jokhang Temple is the famous bazaar of Barkhor Street. With a history of more than 1,300 years, the Barkhor is essentially a pilgrim circuit, which is followed clockwise round the periphery of the Jokhang. 

Later today, visit a Tibetan carpet workshop. Tibetan carpet is a unique work of art that dates back to the mid-1900s, it is a marvel of Tibetan art. Here, you will get to know the knowledge about Tibetan carpet and see the process of making Tibetan carpet.

Tips: There are 1,080 steps up to the top of Potala Palace, please walk slowly to avoid high altitude sickness.

After breakfast, you are going to visit the Drepung Monastery which is located in the west suburb of the city. It is one of the “Three Great Monasteries” of Tibet, the other two are Ganden and Sera Monastery. Drepung Monastery is the largest one of all Tibetan Monastery. All the halls are magnificent. There are 183 pillars in the main assembly hall and the carvings on the pillars are so exquisite.

Later, transfer to visit the Sera Monastery, which is famous for the spectacular “Buddhist debating” among lamas. They are very active debating by speaking out their views and using odd gestures. Don’t get them wrong, they are not fighting or quarreling. It is actually a great way to exchange ideas and learn the Buddhist classics, and has been practiced for thousands of years. After enjoy the “Buddhism Debating”, you will move on to visit the nearby Norbulingka Park. It used to be the Summer Palace of the Dalai Lama. Encompassing 360,000 square meters, the pleasant park consists of small palaces, chapels and a zoo.

After breakfast, we will drive to Trubshi village which is known as one of the most beautiful Tibetan villages for trekking. The driving distance is around 48km which will takes around 1.5hours drive. Trubshi village is a well-know primitive village around Lhasa, and it located in the valley that surrounded with beautiful mountains and rivers. The altitude of Trubshi village is nearly 3,400 meters which it’s a very suitable place for leisure trekking. If you and your families want to save some energy, you can also take horse or Yak riding to enjoy the peaceful village (Horse or Yak riding is your own expense), which are also great fun for kids. 

Lunch will be arranged at local family, you will have a chance to get close to local people and taste authentic Tibetan home-cooked food. Tibetans are very friendly and hospital, warmly welcomed by the host, you will be treated by a cup of Tibetan tea and then enjoy the time freely-chatting with the hosts. After lunch, we will set out to return to the hotel in Lhasa. The rest of the day is for your own exploration, have a stroll at Barkhor Street or pick some souvenirs for your families are both good options.
