Chongqing is the starting point of fantastic Yangtze Cruise, and home to the legendary Dazu Grottoes (Dazu Rock Carvings). Over 50,000 Buddhist, Taoist and Confucian rock carvings and 100,000 characters of inscriptions make Dazu a treasure house of Chinese religion art. You will be picked up by your Eay Tour China guide and driver from your hotel at around 8.30am and drive around 1.5 hours to Dazu (90km). Visit Dazu Rock Carvings, representative of an ancient Chinese art tradition and listed as World Heritage site by UNESCO. The visit is around 4 to 5 hours (including lunch and rest). After the visit, transfer back to hotel or the pier for your Yangtze Cruise Ship, marking the end of your private Chongqing day trip of Dazu Rock Carvings.
Morning time: After arrival the scenic area, explore the Baoding Mountain Rock Carvings, the largest and most thematically comprehensive group of carvings of the Dazu Rock Carvings complex. It was begun to constructed in 1174 and finally completed after approximately 70 years. Through your guide's commentary, gain a deep understanding of the stories and meanings behind the carvings. The highlights include the Thousand-Armed Guanyin, Reclining Buddha, and the Six Realms of Rebirth at Dafo Bay.
Lunch time: Enjoy a meal at a nearby restaurant (selected by Easy Tour China) featuring local specialties. Rest after lunch.
Afternoon time: Proceed to the Beishan Rock Carvings, carved during the late Tang Dynasty (9th century) and flourishing during the Song Dynasty (9th–13th centuries). These are among the earliest and largest carvings in the Dazhu complex. Admire over 5,100 exquisitely carved statues, primarily depicting Guanyin and Buddha.
