Day

Arrive at Shanghai. Be met your by Easy Tour China local guide & have a Shanghai city tour to the Bund and Nanjing Road. A leisure stroll along the Bund, you can view the historical architectures from the colonial era, as well as Shanghai's modern skyline made of Shanghai Tower, Shanghai World Financial Center, Oriental Pearl TV Tower, etc. Nanjing Road consists of historical buildings and shopping malls. After dinner, enjoy acrobatic show at night.

On your second day in Shanghai, visit the Yu Garden, the best classic garden in China built around 500 year agao. Right next the garden is Yuyuan Bazaar, where the City God Temple of Shanghai (Chenghuang Temple) is located. There are the narrow old streets of Shanghai lined with various handcrafts and food shops. Ascend the observation floor of Oriental Pearl Tower to take in the full view of Huangpu River and Shanghai Pudong area. Visit Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition, east of People's Square, where you can learn about the historical changes and future vision of Shanghai. The last stop of today is Tianzifang old district, converted from Shanghai old longtang valleys and shikumen dwellings. Enjoy free time shopping and having a cup of coffee here.

Oriental Pearl Tower

Free time in the morning until transferring to the airport. Fly to Datong, transfer to the hotel for check in. Datong is located in the northern part of Shanxi Province and was the capital of the Northern Wei Dynasty nearly 2,000 years ago. In ancient times, it was a military town and a hub of commerce and trade. There are many cultural relics, especially Buddhist art heritage. In summer, it is a summer resort, and in winter, you can experience the stunning snowy scenery.

After breakfast, drive to visit the Hanging Monastery, built in the 15th year of Taihe of the Northern Wei Dynasty (491), with a history of more than 1,500 years. It is the earliest surviving wooden cliff building in China. Relying on 27 beams inserted into the mountain rock wall, supplemented by iron chains for reinforcement, it is a miracle in the history of architecture. Surprisingly, the temple is a unity temple of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism.

Then visit Fogongsi Wooden Pagoda at YingCounty. The world's oldest and tallest wooden tower has a history of over 960 years. Alongside the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy and the Eiffel Tower in Paris, it is known as one of the "world's three wonders of towers". It is a completely wooden structure for the entire tower, without a single iron nail.

Hanging Monastery

Today you will have a visit to the Yungang Grottoes, a world cultural heritage and a treasure of ancient Chinese Buddhist art. It was excavated  from 453 to 524 AD in the Northern Wei Dynasty. There are 45 main caves and 209 subsidiary caves, with more than 51,000 stone statues. After the tour, you will be transferred to train station or airport to head for your next destination. End of your 5 days Shanghai Datong tour package.
