Huangshan has the most beautiful and dramatic mountain – Yellow Mountain (Mt. Huanghan) – in China, and perfectly-kept ancient Huizhou-style villages, making it an ideal destination for photography. Photographers have been charmed and inspired by Yellow Mountain’s natural marvels and the nearby picturesque villages which are given magic.
This tour is especially crafted for photographers, enthusiasts and beginners, and can be tailored to suit your photography and travel style. Our local guides know the best places to capture wind-carved pine trees, breathtaking peaks punching through amazing seas of cloud, and incredible winter snow scenery of Yellow Mountain, as well as the black-tile-and-white-wall traditional dwellings.

Suggested times for photography
April to June and September to November are the best times for Huangshan and Yellow Mountain photography.
The spring season from March to May is ideal for rapeseed-flower photography.
December to March is the season for Yellow Mountain winter photography.

Huangshan is 3 hours by bullet train from Shanghai and 2 hours from Hangzhou. And there are flights to Huangshan from major Chinese cities. Upon arrival at Huangshan railway station or airport, meet your ETC guide and driver, and transfer to the foot of Yellow Mountain, then take cable car up to the mountain top. Relax and get your camera and all photographic equipment ready for photo opportunities (e.g. sunset) that may come at any time.
Get up early this morning to capture the sunrise (weather permitting), stretching your eyesight through the morning fog despersed gradually by the soft gleaming light. Your guide wiill lead you to the right sites (Bright Summit or Refreshing Terrace, or both) for photo shooting, depending on your travel season and the weather. Bright Summit is the second highest peak (1840m). Later, explore the spectacular West Sea Grand Canyon where the rock peaks are rising surprisingly among the dreamlike seas of clouds and tenacious pine trees are growing from the sheer cliff. Take care of your camera when walking on the rugged stone paths. Watch the sunset at Dispelling Cloud Pavilion or Flying-Over Rock (weather permitting), before return to your hotel. Have a good rest tonight.
It will take much time and energy for you to walk on the mountain. So if feel tired on the way, your guide can adjust your itinerary flexibly. Of course you can discuss on it with your travel advisor of Easy Tour China when planning the trip.
Important Notes:
- West Sea Grand Canyon and Lotus Peak will be closed from December to the next March, due to the snowy weather. So we will adjust your itinerary.

Today you will have have another opportunity to take photos of Yellow Mountain at sunrise hours if you haven’t got your perfect image. Also make the most of your time to explore other attractions of Yellow Mountain and capture amazing shots. Then take cable car down the mountain, and transfer to Bishan Village in Yi County, one of the famous Huizhou-style villages in Huangshan. The village has the ruins of Song Dynasty garden, a private school in the Ming Dynasty, and an ancient pagoda in the Qing Dynast, as well as more than 100 well-preserved ancient dwellings and ancestral halls, which are marvelous themes for photography.

Today we’ll photograph the bamboo seas, and take your photography to the next level with ancient Chinese village discovery. Mukeng Bamboo Forest has inspired the “dreamlike sword fight on the bamboo” of Oscar winner Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. The forest is a natural oxygen bar and a land of idyllic beauty – you’ll enjoy it. Then head for Xidi Village (or Hongcun Village), part of the UNESCO-protected Yellow Mountain and Southern Anhui ancient villages. The photo chances are endless as you experience the culture, disover the local dwellings, ancestral halls, ancient paths, shops, food stalls, and when you are treated as a friend being shown around to the best and most of the village and even invited to a local’s home for portrait photography.

The photo tour to Xin’an River Landscape Gallery covers rich natural themes from forests, tea plantation, orchards on the mountain, and river-side traditional Anhui village, with the black tile and white walls reflected on the water. If you travel in spring, capture the vast cauliflower in full blossom and gleaming the sunlight. There’re also chances you can photograph the fisherman and the artists performing local opera.
