Huangshan is home to a long cultural legacy, and consequently, a fascinating artistic tradition. There are Ming and Qing Dynasty architectures, dwellings, lanes, bridges, ancestral halls and memorial archways, make up the enchanting ancient village. Get inspired and paint before Xidi and Hongcun villages; the latter is famed as “a village in Chinese painting". Get to know more about traditional Chinese painting, visiting local art paper workshop, Hui Writing Brush Institute, a famous artists’s workshop and even make ink-stick yourself. Futhermore, you’ll explore the magnificent Yellow Mountain that has inspired numerous poets and painters to create great art works since the ancient times.

Day

Be met at the airport or rail station, transfer to your hotel by a comfortable private car. Have a short break and then transfer to visit Hu Kaiwen Ink-stick Factory, which is the oldest continually operating ink stick factory in China. Walking on the small lane to Hu Kaiwen Ink Factory, you will gradually smell the ink's fragrance. The most highlight part must be observing the process of making Ink-stick, and you can even experience making Ink-stick personally.

After breakfast, you will be met and driven 40 minutes to visit Tangmo Village. It was constructed originally in the Tang Dynasty and reached its height of prosperity in both Ming and Qing Dynasty as the most representative garden village in Huizhou. Here you will experience how to make Chinese Art Paper (Xuan paper) at a local workshop. Xuan paper includes unprocessed, processed and half processed, suitable for conveying the artistic expression of both calligraphy and painting. After lunch, drive 80 minutes to Yi County, and visit the famous Hongcun Village. With 900 years existence, it was listed by UNESCO as World Culture Heritage in 2000. The morning mist, gray tiles, white walls, stone bridge, lotus ponds, hills are all perfect elements of Chinese painting. So Hongcun has been named "a village in Chinese painting". While what makes it special is the village's interesting ox-like architecture composition. Explore the village and have your outdoor painting experience at appropriate time. Hongcun Village

In the morning, visit a local famous artist's workshop. Appreciate his paintings, and have 2-4 hours panting & communication with him. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Xidi village. It is one of the best place for visitors to see typical folk houses where residents have lived as they have for centuries. The village has a history over 900 years, The stone lanes and houses is still the same as they were in Ming and Qing Dynasty. In the year of 2000, Xidi village was also listed as World Culture heritage site by UNESCO. Stay overnight at the village.

Paint Xidi Village

Today after breakfast, our guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel, and then drive 60 kilometer to the foot of Mt. Huangshan, which is known as " the loveliest mountain of China", and was acclaimed through art and literature during a good part of Chinese history (e.g. the Shanshui "mountain and water" style of the mid-16th century). Huangshan Mountain was enlisted as a World Heritage by UNESCO in 1990. Taking cable car to the top of the mount. After check in at your hotel and have lunch, you will escorted by our guide and visit the Brush Pen Peak, Lion Peak, and Xihai Grand Canyon. Stay overnight at the summit.

On this day, try to get up early in the morning to catch the Huangshan Mountain's magnificent sunrise. After breakfast at hotel, continue the tour on the mountain and enjoy your outdoor painting time. Afterwards, descent the mountain by cable car and drive directly to Tunxi city.

Afternoon visit the Hui Writing Brush Institute, which is located at the famous culture street - Tunxi Street. Besides, it’s also the biggest writing brush producing center in Huangshan. Today you will get close to know the history of Hui Writing Brush, and experience the making process step by step personally.
