Meet Our Travel Specialists
Hi, my name is Wei Wu
My brief biography
I started in the travel business as a tour guide in the early 1990s, upon obtaining a BA degree in English language. As a guide, I loved to show clients a different part of China in addition to the classic destinations like the Li River Cruise and the Great Wall of China. I would take clients to local markets and taste the local specialty food stalls. I feel a great pride whenever my clients wished to learn more from the local culture and local people - I would spend hours to translate, satisfying my clients’ curiosity. In 1998, I moved on to organize and sell China tours for my clients and partners in China and overseas. I started to travel all across China, backpacking, inspired by the backpackers I met during my guiding years.
Among my destinations were Tibet, the Silk Road (not only the main road, but also the undiscovered small towns), Tulou of Hakka people, Yellow Mountain villages, ethnic tribes’ villages in Guizhou, and the far away untouched destinations in Yunnan like Lijiang and Shangri-la.
In recent years, I have further enriched my travel experience by my personal exploration of Europe and America. While traveling, I would try my best to taste all the local flavors, from food to shows, like my curious clients I guided in the 1990s. From the Corn pizza in Chicago to the Blue Man Show, from Taliesin West and Indian Arts Street in Phoenix to the Bright Angel Trail in the Grand Canyon, and from the Royal Mile in Edinburgh to the Jack the Ripper evening walking tour in London, I loved them all.
My favorite places are scenes of natural beauty and villages with strong cultural heritages. Though born an immigrant child with parents from the very north of China, I have been terribly influenced by the southerners’ diet – weird food keeps on inspiring me for new ideas that I would love to share more with you with your trip planning.
