On this tour we will explore and see the most famed scenic spots at Sichuan, for the cute giant pandas, historical sites, cultural relics and beautiful natural scenery. The luxurious cruise will start from Chongqing with its final end at the prosperous the Bund of Shanghai, with stop at Wuhan and Yellow Mountain for excursion. You will visit other highlights like Three Gorges Museum, Eling Park, Ciqikou Old Town, Fengdu Ghost City, Shennong Stream, Lesser Three Gorges, Three Gorges Dam site, Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, Confucian Temple...

Day

Upon your arrival at Chengdu rail station or airport, you will be greeted by your private tour guide, and then take a short walk to meet your driver. Enjoy the private transfer from airport to hotel, and enjoy the rest of day by yourself.

Chengdu is the hometown of giant panda, and features longstanding history and civilization. The foods are excellent. The popular two-flavor hot pot can’t be missed here. For the rest of the day, you may explore the city on your own pace.

Drive to Panda Breeding and Research Center (30 minutes’ ride). Usually pandas get fed in the morning, it is the most active period during the day. Watch a film at Panda Museum to have some knowledge of pandas. After lunch at the city downtown, go and visit Jinsha Site Museum, a great place for visitors to closely observe the excavation of archaeological spot and learn the glorious culture of the ancient Shu Kingdom. Then wander around Jinli ancient streets, you can taste different kinds of local snacks there.

After breakfast, drive to Leshan city by around 2.5hrs drive, to see the largest stone-carved Buddha sculpture in the world. The Leshan Giant Buddha was finished in 803 of Tang Dynasty after 90 year's construction with a 71-meter height.You will walk on the zig-zaging trail around the Buddha. In the late afternoon, drive around 40 minutes to Emei Mountain, one of the four sacred mountains. Visit the Baoguo Temple. Overnight at the hotel at mountain foot.

Take the local environment-friendly bus to Leidongping, then walk about 15 minutes to Jieyin Hall, where to board a cable car to Golden summit. Visit the Huazang temple, Golden summit Buddha Statue. After lunch, take bus down to the foot of the mountain, you can choose to have hot-spring bath at hotel. Overnight at Mt. Emei.

After breakfast, drive to Zigong (about 3.5hours). In Zigong, visit the Dinosaur Museum, established on the site of dinosaur fossils. Together with the American National Dinosaur Park and the Canadian Dinosaur Park, it is one of the world's three largest dinosaur museums. Then visit Zigong Salt-mining Museum. The city was also nicknamed as the 'Salt Capital' in the past because of its salt resources and production. Right here you can see how people make salt in traditional way. Overnight at Zigong.

Head for Dazu in the morning, visit Dazu Grottoes upon arrival. Listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999, the Dazu Grottoes contain over 50,000 stone sculptures carved from the Tang Dynasty (618-907) to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). The two major sites are Beishan (North Hill) and Baodingshan (Baoding Hill). Afterwards, drive to Chongqing (117km). Overnight at Chongqing.

ETC clients visit Dazu Grottoes, one of the best in China

Today explore one of the most dynamic metropolis in West China by starting with a visit to the Three Gorges Museum, occupying an area of 30,000 square meters, it is a monographic museum to display the history and cultural heritage of Chongqing and the Three Gorges area. Then proceed to visit the General Joseph W. Stilwell Museum in memory of the USA general during the Second World War. Move on to see the Eling Park, where you can have a panoramic view of the Chongqing city. Drive to visit the Ciqikou Old Town in the afternoon. Board your Yangtze River cruise.

Wake up in fresh air, enjoy a cup of tea and perhaps do some tai ji practice on board. Afternoon shore excursion to Fengdu, visiting either the "Ghost City" on Mingshan Hill, or the new relocation village for families who have moved as a result of the Yangtze's rising waters brought about by the Three Gorges Dam.

Today you’ll get a close look of the enchanting landscape as you board a small boat and cruise along a tributary to the Yangtze to explore the exceptionally beautiful Lesser Three Gorges or Shennong Stream depending on the arrangement of the cruise company. Evening sail through Three Gorges Dam Ship locks.

Shore excursion to Three Gorge Dam, which is by far the largest hydroelectric project in the world. Reboard the ship at Yichang dock. Be met at Yichang, and then transfer to Yichang rail station for two hours high speed train journey to Wuhan. Upon arrival at Wuhan, be met by your private guide and transfer to hotel.

Morning take a private guided shore excursion of Wuhan, visiting the Hubei Provincial Museum. It has collected over 200,000 cultural relics, including pottery, porcelains, jade, bronze vessels, ancient weapons, and ancient musical instruments. At noon, be transferred to rail station for a 4.5hrs high speed train journey to Huangshan. At Huangshan rail station, you will meet your guide and be transferred to hotel. In Huangshan City, we can find two UNESCO-approved World Heritage Sites: Mount Huangshan and Ancient Villages in Southern Anhui - Xidi and Hongcun.

Enjoy your breakfast in the hotel, and then drive for about one hour to reach the foot of Huangshan Mountain. Take Yungu Cableway up to White Goose Ridge. After that, you can enjoy hiking and admiring at the Celestial Capital Peak, Lotus Peak and Bright Top where they are the ideal places to gaze over the breathtaking seas of clouds. In the afternoon, continue hiking to Flying-Over Rock and visit the most spectacular West Sea Grand Canyon. After the tour, take cable car down the hill and transfer back hotel.

Today, let’s enjoy a leisure hiking tour from Xidi Village to Hongcun Village. The hiking route follows Xidi-Hongcun Ancient Pathway, with a total length of 8 kilometers, and duration of 3 hours. Explore the primitive villages for unique folk culture, and enjoy the beautiful scenery all the way along. The Xidi-Hongcun Ancient Pathway is a national trail for mountaineering and fitness, being one of the most beautiful hiking trails. Wander around the famous Hongcun Village after you reach there. With 900-year existence, it was listed into UNESCO as World Culture Heritage in 2000. The morning mist, gray tiles, white walls, stone bridge, lotus ponds, hills are all perfect elements selected to Chinese painting. So Hongcun Village is reputed as "the village in Chinese painting". While what makes it special is the village's interesting ox-like architecture composition. After the tour, transfer to rail station for a 3hrs train journey to Shanghai.

After breakfast at hotel, start your Shanghai exploration, absorb the beauty and culture essence of Shanghai today. Shanghai is the first city in mainland China where the East meets the West, so its alluring mixing culture is the biggest highlight of the city. Our first spot is Yu Garden, located in central Shanghai, it is the best-kept and most famous private classic garden in Shanghai. Walk through the elegantly carved gates and corridors to discover the elaborate designed halls, rooms, artificial hills, and get to know the back stories that happened in the past 400 years. Walk out of the garden, you will see a bustling bazaar, named Yuyuan Market or Chenghuangmao Market packed with local specialty foods and snacks.

Later have a stroll through Shanghai’s old small alleyways – the lilongs, to witness yourself how local people live their daily life. Enjoying Shanghai local delicacies at local restaurant for lunch will further satisfy your curiosity about local life and cuisine. Shanghai’s colonial architecture is always a big draw. The Bund has a remarkable collection of 19th to 20th Century colonial buildings, which were originally banks, commercial and trade buildings, hotels, customs house, etc.

Then we head for Shanghai Lujiazui Financial District, where skyscrapers are rising high. Get in Shanghai World Financial Center, one of the tallest buildings in the city to view Shanghai’s skyline and also look into China’s future.
