As China's national treasure, the giant panda is one of the rarest species throughout the world. It is estimated that only approximately 1,600 giant pandas are existing now, including those living in the wildness. Situated in southwestern China, Sichuan Province is renowned for being home to giant pandas, and 80% of the world’s giant pandas are living here.

After the Wenchuan earthquake of 2008, the pandas’ home was heavily ruined, even more attentions were paid to those lovely animals, and more efforts were made to rescue this endangered creature. Visitors from home and abroad have been encouraged to do something for giant pandas' living environment and their future. Both Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Center and Bifengxia Panda Base (a new base relocated from world-famous Wolong) offer perfect opportunities for those who are willing to accept the volunteer program and get intimate touch with giant pandas.
