Day

Upon your arrival in Huangshan City (Tunxi), meet your private guide and driver, and transfer to your hotel in Bishan Village, a non-commercial traditional village in Yixian County. Free at leisure to walk around the village in rest of the day. You may stop at Bishan Book Store to have a cup of coffee, or select some postcard with their special stamp.

Xihong Ancient Trail was an important trail between Xidi and Hongcun villages, and it is now one of the most beautiful hiking trails in Huangshan area. The trail is 9 km at altitude between 220-320 meters with little up and down, and it takes around 3 hours. Starting from Qishuhu Reservoir (Dongfanghong Reservoir) and follow the rustic trail, you will walk through the green jungle and flowing canals, enjoy the serene and blessed nature world. Today’s walk stops at Mandarin Duck Valley and you will be transferred to Xidi Village for lunch and visit the UNESCO-listed village in the afternoon.

Hongcun Village

Today, you will go to explore another ancient trail named Tongling Ancient Trail in Shexian County. Today’s walk is at an altitude tween 150 and 410 meter, which is a little bit harder than last day’s walk. It is around 8km with the first part uphill and last 3km downhill to Chengkan Village, a village said to be constructed according to the theory of the Eight Trigramkan in Yijing (Classic of Changes). On the way, you will stop at Lingshan Village, a village with large area of bamboo forest and thus it is famous for bamboo weaving. An optional bamboo weaving class can be arranged through your travel consultant. Today’s hiking stops at Chengkan Village and you will have chance to learn the mysterious Yijing. Transfer to Tangmo Village and overnight. Spend rest of the day to walk around the quiet village.

Huangshan ancient train hiking

Xin'an River, originated from Huaiyu Mountain in Xiuning County, is the upper section of Qiantang River. River transport on Xin’an River was the most important transports for businessman to contact with developed area of Hangzhou & Shanghai. Now, with the fast development of  highway and high speed train, the river is built as a scenic area, named Ten-mile Gallery. Today, you will take a walk along this picturesque river and pass by the ancient dwellings of Huizhou architecture style with white walls and gray tiles. Meander through the forest of fir, bamboo, tea bushes, loquat and oranges, the walking route starts from Miantan Village and ends at Nanyuankou, with a total length of 16 km, and a duration of 4 hours. Explore the primitive villages for unique folk culture, and enjoy the beautiful scenery all along. In March, peach, pear, canola flower and green willow are in full bloom this way, creating a beautiful landscape picture. Pack your luggage before sleep and prepare an overnight luggage for two nights on top of the Yellow Mountain.

After breakfast, transfer to the Yellow Mountain and store your luggage at foot of the mountain with assistance from the guide. Take your overnight luggage and start your hiking from the Yungu Temple. Ascend the mountains via the Eastern Steps and you will trek on several natural peculiarly-shaped rocks, such as the Stone Table and Bridge of Immortals. It is 6.5km and takes about three hours’ hike to arrive at the White Goose Ridge, where we will have a rest. Continue hiking to the Flying-over Rock and the Bright Top for another three hours. Then we enjoy the sunset at the Cloud-dispelling Pavilion, which is a highlight of Yellow Mountain. Stay overnight on Yellow Mountain.

Yellow Mountain Hiking

Get up in the early morning and admire at the sunrise at the Refreshing Terrace if weather permits. Today, you will explore the West Sea Grand Canyon, which covers the most essential parts — the 1st ring, 2nd ring, Button, Plunk Way, and Fairy-Walking Bridge, and takes approximately four hours to finish the circuit. Descend in late afternoon by cable car and transfer to airport or train station for your next destination.

 Optional One Day Huihang Ancient Trail Hiking Tour : 

  • As one of the three most noted ancient trails in China (the other two are Silk Road and Tea Horse Road), Huihang Ancient Trail was first built in Tang Dynasty, and became the most important transportation between Huizhou (currently Tunxi or Huangshan City) and Hangzhou. It had played an important role in trading and culture exchange. The whole trail is around 25km from Jixi town of Anhui to Yonglai Village of Hangzhou, and the altitude varies from 280 to 1035 meters.Today, you will be transferred to Jixi by private car (88km/2hrs) and walk the best part of the trail. Starting from Yankou Pavilion, after a short walk along the river, you will climb up the hill for around 1.5km to altitude at 600 meters in altitude. The following will be at the same altitude till the last 3km with a big challenge, a 360 meters ascending in 2.5km. The hiking ends at South Heaven Gate at 900 meters. The trail differs from steps to flagstone road, macadam road, and flank built above the streams and on the edge of the cliff. Along the trail, you will see ancient bridges, ancient trees, ancient pavilions, grassland, authentic villages, etc. You’re suggested to wear good outdoor waterproof trail shoes and walk with a walking stick.
  • After the walk, you will be met and transferred back to Huangshan or train station for high speed train to Hangzhou.
