Ni Hao, Guilin welcomes you with its surreal landscapes and warm people. Your Easy Tour China local guide will meet and greet you at the Guilin Airport, and then transfer to Longji Rice Terraces in Longsheng County (80km/1.5-hour drive). It is suggested that you book a flight that arrives in Guilin in the morning. So in the afternoon, after check into your hotel in Ping’an Village on the halfway of Longji Rice Terraces, you will some free time to start the interesting discovery of the Village, with possibility to capture the sunset over terraced fields.
Please note:
- Your car will park at the entrance of Longji Scenic Spot, from where you will still need to walk about 40min to get to your hotel. We suggest that you take a small bag with only the necessaries for 1-day stay on the mountaintop and keep your main luggage in the car.
- If you are not able to walk up for 40min, there is optional transfer service provided by the hotel.
After a sound sleep, if you may get up very early, you may be rewarded the incredible sunrise. At a good location, you can take great photos. The Longji Rice Terraces, an important agricultural cultural heritage in China and even the world, were first built in the Yuan Dynasty and took shape on a large scale during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. They have a history of more than 650 years.
Your guide will lead you to walk for about 2 to 3 hours on the stone-paved paths (with ups and downs) through the village, surrounded by mountains of various plants and streams, and view the rice terraces from different angles. Seven Stars with Moon and Nine Dragons and Five Tigers are two of the most important observation decks, offering full views of the terraced fields and the distant mountains.
After a delicious lunch with some gourmet local dishes, such as sticky rice in bamboo, drive for about 2hours to downtown Guilin. If you still feel energetic, along with your guide, take a leisure city walk around the central lakes, discovering the Tang Dynasty ancient wall (only a small part preserved), double bridges, archaistic islets, and the Tang Dynasty Sun and Moon Pagodas.
Continue your guided Guilin tour. In the morning, transfer to the pier, and embark your luxury Li River cruise journey. This classic route is 83 kilometers (total length of about 214 kilometers), and takes about 4.5 hours. Along the way you can enjoy the picturesque landscapes of Li River on -- you’ll feel as if you are boating in a Chinese landscape painting.
As one of China's most iconic landscapes, the Li River inspired in the illustration on the back of the RMB 20 note. So if you have a twenty yuan note in your hand, you may want to take a picture with the Yellow Cloth Reflection. Other famous sites along the way include the Nine Horses Painted Mountain and Xingping Ancient Town. Enjoy a Chinese lunch on board, including famous local dishes such as Guilin Rice Noodles and Beer Fish.
In the afternoon, excise a bit of your legs again. We’ll rent bikes (mountain bikes available), start your leisure Yangshuo countryside cycling trip from the center of Yangshuo. Get out of the main roads, and bike along the Yulong River, vegetable fields, and orchards, to take in the peaceful and gorgeous rural landscape.
In the Evening, explore yourself the bustling West Street, full of street foods, souvenir shops, and bars.
- Optional Impression Liu Sanjie Show: directed by Zhang Yimou (General Director of the Beijing Olympics), about 70 minutes long, and featuring farmers from various ethnic minority villages. It is the world's first large-scale landscape live-action show, with the Li River as the stage and the mountain peaks as the backdrop, integrating ethnic culture, music, dance and high-tech sound and light technology.
As China's first National Forest Park, World Natural Heritage and World Geopark, Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is characterized by its peculiar quartz sandstone peaks and forests landforms. Today's private tour of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, we focus on Huangshi Village (1080 meters above sea level), take the Huangshizhai cableway for 5 minutes straight to the top of the mountain. Walk about 1.5 hours to visit the Five Fingers Peak, Star-picking Platform, Six Wonderful Pavilions, Tianqiao Remaining Pier, etc., and you may encounter monkeys occasionally. Then take the cable car down.
After lunch, drive for about 1 hour to get to Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon in Cili County. The canyon belongs to the typical karst Roach Valley landscape, with a depth of 400 meters, formed 300 million years ago. It contains waterfalls and 3 natural lakes. Undoubtedly, Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge is the biggest highlight of the canyon. After entering the Grand Canyon, we first came to the glass bridge, 536 meters long and about 280 meters high from the bottom of the valley, making it the highest and longest glass bridge in the world. Standing on the glass bridge, you can overlook the entire Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon. We then hiked down to the bottom of the canyon, passing beautiful lakes and waterfalls along the way. If you want to save your energy, elevators, slide ways, or zip lines, are available.
Located in the northeastern part of Wulingyuan National Park, the core scenic area of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Yuanjiajie is a 380-million-year-old Devonian quartz sandstone with a globally rare square mountain terrace-type peak forest. Arrive at Yuanjiajie by the world's fastest and highest outdoor elevator, the Bailong Elevator. Here, the Qiankun Pillar with a vertical height of 150m is the prototype of Avatar's Hallelujah Mountain. The World’s No.1 Bridge is a natural stone bridge with a span of 50 m. And the Vertigo Terrace consists of more than 300 peaks and forests.
Move to Tianzi Mountains with a shuttle bus. The main peak, Tianzifeng, is 1,262.5 meters above sea level, and is home to a great view of quartz sandstone peaks and forests. The Royal Pen Peak consists of seven 200-meter-high stone pillars side by side. Fairy Scattering Flowers is an anthropomorphic strange stone formed by weathering at the top of the lone peak, which is said to be the incarnation of a local Tujia A-mei. The West Sea Peak Forest consists of 3000+ stone peaks. Tianzi Pavilion is a window to understand the history and culture of Xiangxi Tusi. Take the cable car down the mountain.
Tianmen Mountain is located at 1518.6 meters above sea level in Yongding District, only 8 kilometers from downtown Zhangjiajie. Ride the world's longest cable car (7,455 meters) , overlooking the 99 curves of the mountain road (1,100 meters elevation drop) , and reach the top of the mountain. Follow the western route to reach the Tianmen Mountain Glass-bottom Trail, 60 meters long and 1,430 meters above sea level. Continue along the cliff-side Ghost Valley Trail, then take the forest cable car (optional) to reach Tianmen Temple. Overlooking Tianmen Mountain from the Yunmeng Peak Observation Deck. And then take crossing-mountain elevator down to Tianmen Cave, which is the world's highest natural cave through the mountain, (131.5m high and 57m wide) and a paradise for extreme sports. Descend the sacred 999 steps and then take the cable car down the mountain.
