Shanghai Volkswagen (the abbreviate of Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd.) is a Sino-German joint venture Corporation between Volkswagen Group and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC Motor in short), and is devoted to automobile manufacturing. With the business started in March, 1985, Shanghai Volkswagen has its head quarter in ANTING--- SHANGHAI International Motown, which is by far the largest production base of modern cars, and also operates vehicle plants in Nanjing, Ningbo and Yizheng in Jiangsu province, and Urumqi in Xinjiang region. A further plant in Changsha, south central China, is under construction and expected to be completed within 2015.
